Lemiyon Primary School is a Maasai community school located in northern Tanzania. The school provides education to children from local Maasai families, helping to create opportunities for future generations through learning, knowledge, and hope.
As part of our commitment to responsible tourism, we invite our guests to visit the school during their journey. A visit offers the opportunity to meet students and teachers, learn about Maasai culture and daily life, and gain a deeper understanding of the community beyond the wildlife and landscapes of Tanzania.
Education is probably the most useful tool a child can have, and it isn't just "accepted as being part of life" like in the West. Here it has to be made to happen, it needs the minimum of school supplies - books, pencils, sports equipment - enough to make the long journey on foot worthwhile. At Lemiyon primary school, Maasai communities are helped by your holiday in simple, but vital support like breakfast porridge for children who may not have eaten, giving them the sustenance they need to learn.
